HFrance published a discussion on my book Balance of Power and Norm Hierarchy. Franco-British Diplomacy after the Peace of Utrecht (Brill, 2015). Peter Schröder (UCL) wrote a review, which can be consulted here. My response is online was well. The core of our disagreement concerns the autonomy of the approach chosen for the book. The discussion generates complementary perspectives on legal and political history vis-à-vis history of political thought.
